Taylor Swift | Speak Now | Album Cover Art

So looks like I’m getting post happy today. Two posts; one blog. If I knew it was Taylor Swift Artwork day I would of saved the Wake Up JohnLegend/theRoots post for another rainy day.

Apparently Big Machine dropped the Taylor Swift Cover on the world, and the world is going crazy about it. So far Prez Hilton, MTV, and CMT have all blogged about it. Now it’s our turn. Whew! We can finally talk about our handy work. We’re really excited about Taylor’s new album and we’re extremely privileged to have the opportunity to design this cover for country music’s sweetheart. Kanye, don’t worry we can make you an almost-as-cool album cover . Taylor and BMR have been one of the nicest clients and really great to work with. Shout outs go to Joseph Anthony Baker for the photography and Joseph Cassell for the styling.

John Legend / The Roots: Wake Up! Album Cover

First off, let me say that this album is probably going to be killer. Second off, (…is that right? who says second off anyway, some kind of loser that rambels, that’s who) this album cover is frick’n wicked awesome. It looks so Fat Albert and School House Rock! To top it all off the designer threw some nice grain over everything! Here at ST8MNT we appreciate when someone knows when to use a film grain texture trick. I did a little research and to my un-surprise I couldn’t find out who made this killer album cover. The internet and google isn’t that fair to designers when it comes to recognition. Looks like I’ll have to pull the ole “Look at the Tangible CD Package Liner Notes” trick. Which is a dying trick now-a-days. I wish that I knew who did this design and illustration so I can gaze at some more dope work and post it to ffffound! And give mad props to as-well.

The album drops September 21st (one day before September 22nd, which is Fordo and Bilbo Baggins’s birthday, and also the same day that Oceanic Flight 815 crashed on LOST island.)

Runway Pilot product details

It’s hard to believe that we branded Runway Pilot nearly 2 months ago, but we’ve had a busy summer at ST8MNT, so I guess time flies, literally. Runway Pilot is a new clothing company marketed towards pilots, and aviation aficionados. They launched their brand new webstore today, and it’s full of shirts, jackets, and hats for both men and women. We personally didn’t create the webstore or the look but we are extremely exited for it launch! Our mark is the base of most of their designs, so go see their site for yourself!

Poster for Pontoon Boat Birthday Party

In light of the coming of the new TRON movie and Daft Punk being awesome, it’s time for our TRON post. My birthday is next month and my buds and I are renting a Pontoon Boat (TRONtoon Boat) for the second time in celebration. Here at st8mnt we make posters for the tiniest events, so this time we ripped off the tron sequel for our TRONtoon boat party sequel. This post might be long but I promise that it’ll be enlightening or should I say en-light-cycle-ing.

This post is for all who don’t know me. My name is Aaron (sometimes aaTRON); my parents are trekkies, I like lazers, dance music, fish tacos, my pet Lazr Cat, having conversations like I’m in a comic strip and injecting the word “TRON” into places where it doesn’t belong.

The usage of “TRON” is sort of like taking stuff to the next level. Kinda like how old pitch men from the past used to throw _____-o-matic into titles of products. (i.e. the veg-o-matic) Below is brief explanation on how you too can sound like you have a obsession that makes you sound like a lazer beam loving crazy super dork.

1.) HISTORICAL USAGES OF “TRON”

Two prime examples of “TRON” in pop culture is the infamous jumbo-TRON and the diabolical MegaTRON (Decepticon leader and AutoBot’s arch nemesis) These are the predecessors of next level Bad ‘A’ “TRON” usage.

2.)TRON5000 THE SUFFIX

The first way to use “TRON” is to tack it on to the end of whatever you think is amazing or want to sound more amazing. Examples are MegaTRON, JumboTRON, BurgerTRON, MovieTRON, St8mntTRON, PartyTRON etc… However if that’s not enough and you really want to stress somethings “TRONness” throw 5000 on the end to make it “to the MAX”. Example “We are going to partyTRON5000.”

3.) “TRON” INSERTION

TRON insertion is where the true magic happens and real class/craft becomes the most important. If some thing is dope, and you want to say that it’s killer without forming a whole sentence around why you think it’s the best thing ever, throw “TRON” in the middle if it’s name. *note some words don’t want to be cool and can never take on the word “TRON”. (I know it sux but just like how some people blow, steal, make babies cry and kick kitties; some words just don’t work) For these words turn to “step 2. the suffix.” Now on to the good stuff. Here’s how you can make your very own “TRON” implemented and infused word.

a. words with “on” in it works

b. words that sound like on or can be tweaked with slang to sound like on or ran

c. syllable breaks in the middle of words works

d. syllable replacment

Examples: TRON implement first followed by the actual word

TRONnosaurus Rex: tyrannosaurus res

TRONamonapia: onamonapia

TRON McCain: john mccain

Barack TRONbama: barack obama

TRONgratulations and ConTRONulations: congratulations

LeTRON James: lebron James

The PartheTRON: the parthenon

WonTRONs or TRONtons: wontons

5 MORE G's TO HELP FLOOD RELIEF, WOOT! L33T TALK IS FUN. ROFLAMO LOL. I'm such a n00b.

So, just incase if you can’t tell by the above image, Shopify® threw a contest and we almost won $100 G’s. {The “WE” meaning the royal “WE” of Nashville Flood Tees.} We were a very close runner up to DodoCase® but managed to still win $5,000 dollars. {Personally I thought we won a pizza party for the whole class room, but $5 G’s is cool.} The winnings are being directed back towards the heart of NashvilleFloodTees, the charities helping with the clean up efforts. The contest consisted of who can sell the most product within a 2 month period of a 6 month gap. We narrowly made the contest in time to compete, but due to Nashvillians being so amazing, flood tees almost won the whole shebang. Many thanks go out to all who bought t-shirts and helped rebuild our wonderful city nestled in the heart of Tennessee.

So in this years annual “You are so Nashville if…” issue of the the Scene, the winner David Anthony won with this little piece of gold; “Your city flooded and all you got was a lousy T-shirt.” While we might be the butt of that joke, we know it’s simply a joke, and WE THINK IT’S AWESOME! The top entries we’re all illustrated by SF CA’s Fred Noland, and the winner’s made the cover! So go snag up a copy, and make sure you let everyone know that those “lousy shirts” were able to donate $120,000 thus far to aid Nashville flood relief.

Oh, and thanks to Fred for putting one of our designs on what looks to be Elvis Costello carrying a stand up bass! Our aim was true after all!
